When cell phones evolved into smartphones, the world changed dramatically. A popular meme sums up the change succinctly.
It is a screenshot of a reddit post from 2013 in which a user poses the question, “If someone from the 1950s suddenly appeared today, what would be the most difficult thing to explain to them about today?”
One redditer explains the effects of living with smartphones in a humorous response that is almost too accurate: “I possess a device, in my pocket, that is capable of accessing the entirety of information known to man. I use it to look at pictures of cats and get in arguments with strangers.”
With access to tiny computers that fit in our pockets, it’s no wonder that the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend became popular. Employers recognize the benefits that go beyond the financial burden of supplying devices, such as increased morale and productivity. However, there remains trepidation concerning data ownership and corporate knowledge in a BYOD business world.
As human resource professionals finish crossing T’s and dotting I’s on BYOD policies and confidentiality agreements, a new trend is emerging. Bring Your Own Learning, fueled by the Millennial’s desire to learn whatever he can from wherever or whoever he can, is upon us.
Degreed is offering a Bring Your Own Learning webinar to ease anxieties and unlock the benefits of this new trend with the first ever in-depth look at the data behind it.
You will learn:
